I have been making art for most of my life. It's
the way I make sense of the world. What I love about drawing is
that it demands a focus which pre-empts my day-to-day thoughts.
I use charcoal because it is fast and archetypal for me. I change
the narrative as it unfolds on the paper, and illustrate my thoughts
as they occur. Some of the transitions are left, and some are obscured
with other drawings.
In many ways, the drawings that I have been doing for some twenty-odd
years chronicle my emotional and intellectual life. They are a synthesis
of my feelings, and what I see going on around me. I work from intuition
and the drawings are a record of the process more than a product.
